DETAIL
WW1 ERA AMERICAN RED CROSS STRIPE DITTY BAG...
American Red Cross Cotton Bag
This is a very old detail bag from around the time of WWI.
It looks like a rare striped hickory fabric, but the lines are actually raised and uneven.
Take a look at the cross; it's made by overlapping long, narrow rectangular pieces of fabric to form a cross. The stitching is overlapping and sewn.
The fabric is sturdy, so it is in a condition where it can actually be used.
I think this is a collectible that's not as common as detail bags like the HBT from WWII.
There are many different types available, including those in different colors, shapes, and fabrics, so I think it would be fun to start collecting them.
