Product Description

~1930s Navajo rug, cross pattern, rare design...

this time,
I acquired several old Navajo rugs from before the 1930s.
I was able to acquire some of these items at a price that matches the price I wanted to sell them for, so I will be putting some of them up for sale.

In the past, regarding Navajo rugs, including those on Native American reservations, there have been numerous instances of this.
I've looked into it, and there's a gap between the needs in Japan and the needs in America.
Even when we did come across them, it was usually difficult to buy them at a high price to sell them in Japan.
Of course, that's still true today.

In the United States, it has long been available for use by collectors and niche shops.
Prices are soaring within the United States.
Although it is now widely known in Japan,
Compared to other blankets and rugs, older, high-quality Navajo blankets average around 100,000 yen.
I've always had the impression that it was relatively difficult to find in domestic distribution.
I don't think you can get items from this era at this price even in America.

Navajo rugs are handmade, thick woven fabrics.
This rug is woven entirely by a single craftsman using natural plant dyes.

The vibrant colors are unique to natural dyes,
Careful handcrafted work,
Having aged over time, it exudes a considerable charm as an antique.

This one has a rare cross pattern.
It's quite rare to see all the patterns being crosses, rather than a mix of different designs.

A design featuring a cross superimposed on a brown frame.
Left and right, front and back,
The faded look of black, red, brown, and gray is also clearly visible.
The asymmetrical pattern is also wonderful.

A rug that is clean and in good condition is also appealing,
These were actually used,
It will blend into the interior immediately.
I personally like this texture.

What I was taught was,
If the rug has a border (a patterned border), it is a floor covering.
The frameless version is meant to be worn like a robe.
Smaller sizes are generally considered saddle blankets.

There are also double saddle blankets, so it's hard to say definitively, but
That's pretty much it.

This rug was actually used,
Besides the damage, there is some dirt and dust.

It has been sun-dried and lightly cleaned, so it is of course ready to use.
However, it hasn't been completely cleaned.
It might not be suitable for things like draping over a sofa, as it has a clean and elegant image.

I recommend using it as a casual rug for practical purposes.
I hope you can understand that.

Just like with clothing, when it comes to these kinds of rugs, if they are old ones from before the 1930s,
Compared to later ones, the number is even smaller.
Inevitably, prices will continue to rise.

And this rare cross
I think you'll feel a great sense of satisfaction when you get your hands on it.

This area is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I'd love to
