PAUL PETZOLDT WILDERNESS EQUIPMENT
PUFFER VEST
An outdoor brand based in Wyoming.
First off, the label design is fantastic.
The founder climbed the Grand Tetons from a young age, later worked as a mountain guide, served in the 10th Mountain Division during World War II, and went on to establish NOLS in 1965.
He later developed this outdoor brand, which bears his own name.
True to their "DOWN IS OUT" philosophy, the brand was apparently known for actively incorporating synthetic fibers, which were still new at the time.
The tag is faded, but I believe this one is also synthetic-filled.
A small-scale brand that prioritized utility and field-tested craftsmanship over massive expansion.
Featuring a dense nylon shell in a deep green reminiscent of forest green, with a contrasting yellow lining.
The two large pockets are designed as slash pockets that allow for hand access from the sides, and the lemon yellow peeking out from behind the flaps is a nice touch.
The size is equivalent to an M based on actual measurements.
As you can tell from the measurements, the overall shape is also excellent.
It’s a piece I highly recommend, crafted with the kind of quality you’d expect from a niche, local brand.
Please don't miss this opportunity to consider it.
